WHAT TO TAKE TO GO CAMPING

Camping is a fun recreational activity that allows you to enjoy the outdoors, by yourself, or with friends, or with your family. Being surrounded by all that Mother Nature has to offer. People go camping in a forest, national park, in the woods, near a river or lake, and can stay there for one or more nights. There are private campgrounds as well that are privately owned by people who encourage campers to come and enjoy the nature with them. Camping trips can be fun when organized properly.

Depending on where you go to camp, can dictate on what you need and bring for the trip. Here is a list of some items that can be brought.

  1. Enamel or heat-resistant plates and cups that can be used to heat food and water./ or a mess kit.
  2. Food for breakfast, lunch and dinner to last as long as your trip. Also carry extra food like snack bars for safety sake.
  3. First aid kit with all the necessary medication and bandages.
  4. Tent for you to stay into.
  5. Sleeping bags to sleep and rest in. Go with a sleeping bag that has plenty of padding.
  6. Flashlight is a must. Carry it always.
  7. Camp stove to cook your food on and to heat up the water.
  8. Matchbox for lighting the stove as well as for the campfire.
  9. Water needs to be plentifully, so that you do not face a shortage while camping.
  10. Sweater and some rain gear for extra protection.
  11. Machete to assist you to chop off the shrubs while going towards your campsite or for a walk.
  12. Swiss knife is always useful.
  13. Good hiking shoes should never be forgotten and you are going to be walking on uneven ground with lots of vegetation and small animal's around you.
  14. Biodegradable soap should be preferred over the other soaps as it is more environmental friendly.
  15. Plenty of plastic sandwich or freezer bags to put items in to protect from the rain. You also  can use to store your food in as well.
Now if you are staying in a campground that is privately owned, or a national park. You will not have to worry about the water.(9) These campsites have outlets for water. They also have restrooms and shower buildings you can use.

If you have never been camping, or your children have never been. I would suggest getting a small tent, or a cheap tent. So you can do a trial run in the backyard. If you or the kids like it, then you can head out to the great outdoors.

I myself like to camp in the primitive sites or up in to the forest, where no one is around. However, you should take care to find out if it is allowed in your selected area. In such a case, remember that there are no amenities like a laundry, toilets, or a camp store nearby. You will need to carry all of the basic necessities with you when you go camping in these areas.

I will do another blog on what to take in to these primitive areas.
