The Joy of Rock Climbing.

Rock climbing has really taken off since I first tried it. I mean who remembers when you were a child, and going outside and wanting to climb up on tall structures. Those climbing bars on the play ground. If you were lucky, there would have been some big trees or rock formations to climb up on where you lived. The thought of conquering that obstacle.  My first time climbing a rock face, using the rope and harness was in the Scouts. I admit it was a bit scary at first. But I think I was more excited to climb than scared. It was a rush when it was over. The feeling of accomplishment and knowing that I could do it, built up my self-esteem.  When I was in the military, I did more rock climbing and a lot of rappelling. That thrill and the adrenaline rush that flooded the body is something I will never forget. Knowing that I could accomplish and do what ever came my way, helped me in all life decision I made easy and they were not impossible. I think the most satisfying of all, was whe

But there are things to be done before starting a hike. Let us start with foot wear.      Why go to a lot of trouble selecting the best hiking boots? Because they are your Feet, yes your feet. If you are going hiking, that means countless steps. Probably the most important part of your body to keep strong during a hike will be your feet. In the event you cannot walk, you can't get home. Your boots are the foremost critical element which affects the enjoyment of hiking. For this reason you should pick the best hiking boots for your needs. If you have some boots which are not comfortable or are made for the improper outdoor adventure, it might spoil the entire trip. Camping in the Backyard.

I talked a little bit on how I like camping outdoors in nature, on a previous blog. What I would like to talk about this time, is the camping I did as a kid.    Who out there has ever gone camping in their backyard, as kids. Me and my friends loved to do this. Set up a small pup tent, or have our dads set up the big family tent. Thats right I’m old, we did not have such a variety of tents to choose from. My friends and I would gather up our sleeping bags. blankets and pillows. Raid the kitchen for snacks and goodies. Fill our canteens up with some kind of kool aid that was in the fridge. Then gather up our flash lights and other items for the night. As children we have good imaginations, so for me and my friends, we would believe we were soldiers, or explores in a dangerous and scary place. Most of the time we would just tell stories to each other and guff off.    The great part of Camping outside in the backyard, were the sleep overs you could have with your friends and cousin

On the last blog I talked about CAMPING and what to take, for beginners, to enjoy the outdoors. I talked about the private campsites, along with national forest campsites and them having, certain comforts. Now I would like to talk about primitive camping.    I myself love to go camping way out in the woods. Getting away from all the fast pace and loud noise in the city. Just the  appeal of spending time in nature, there are plenty of options on how one can do so. Camping, hiking and backpacking are some. Are you one of those campers  that like to go outdoors to take a break from their daily routines and modern civilization and to beat stress.    Traditional (or primitive) camping or camping without electricity, is a great way to get off the grid or unplug from that crazy life. Where I can relax and feel more independence.        Here are some essential tips on how to camp without e
